Only way it could become framed as “acceptable” is if, for example, Lestat meets Marius and realizes Armand wasn’t lying. Like, Armand has lied about so many things, so maybe Lestat thought he exaggerated his human childhood and his relationship with his maker, but then he’ll meet Marius and have the “oh holy sh!t, Marius is basically Armand’s Gabriella” moment
