The Buddha once stated that even gods exist in samsara and will one day fall back into the lower levels of reincarnation. they developed intense merit but could not let go of something (as you can see many gods having a thing for 🍇, drinking, wrath, jealousy, etc). They did not escape their attachments like a Buddha does, so they are not seen as something worthwhile to honor and submit to.

Their religious institutions did not care for marketing, maximal spreading and adapting to local customs in order to inlay their beliefs more easily…people need to know that the sole reason such religions as Christianity or Islam spread so far and wide was because those religions were engineered to spread, not satiate spiritual needs. They were organized and calculated, part of broader politics. Humanity must evolve last religion as fast as possible.
