here are my tips as someone with 2A/2B waves: use a regular conditioner because a leave-in is too heavy, use a volumizing mousse because it's more airy and lightweight (my favourite is the herbal essences volumizing mousse), use mousse on soaking wet hair because it helps with clumps and shine, use a very runny and liquidy gel and use very little (i like the pantene gel for curls/waves), when scrunching products don't scrunch too much, apply products with your head upside down for volume at the roots, plop your hair into a cotton t-shirt or microfiber towel for 20-30 mins, use warm air for diffusing and use cold air near the end, hover diffuse then when slightly dry gently scoop small sections of hair towards your head and gently release after a few mins, finally if there are strands with a gel cast then scrunch them with bare hands or super lightweight oil

My advice is just have a really good wash routine. Double wash, use a conditioner that is good for your hair type, Clarifying shampoo 1-2 a month. Also finding my hair porosity really helped find what works for my hair. Since water weighs your hair down im guessing you have a higher porosity of hair so do research!

I used to have the same problem with brushing my hair ruining the texture. Using a spray bottle to get my hair soaking wet before I brush was a game changer for me💕
