The BEST hostel in SF is the Green Tortoise! I volunteered there solo all last summer and met so many travelers and had an absolute blast. I would 100% recommend it as a more affordable option as well. Everyone there is super nice, it’s a great area for bar hopping, and the hostel even hosts events each night around the city for other solo travelers!

Also stop by misson Delores park, the street vendors sell some great drinks, bring a book, and lounge in the grass. Went here on a date once and have been itching to go back because it was simply just perfect

They have cleaned up the tenderloin. I have no issues walking through there by myself. They have cute and affordable restaurants.
