A couple months back, if I’m being honest, I felt this way. Him and I were fighting a lot and it was hard to get through things together without having opposing opinions. I found myself mourning the way our relationship was when we first got together. But even through the arguments, we never went to sleep angry. We always came back and talked about why we were upset and listened to what the other had to say. Eventually, the arguments came to a stop. There are times where we nag at each other, but nothing too serious. I’m not sure what I’m trying to get at, but all I know is that the feeling of énouement is temporary with someone your soul is entangled with.

Mourning a relationship you’re still in is grieving someone who is still alive. It’s looking at the person beside you and realizing the version of them you fell in love with only exists in your memories now. Every day you wonder if you’re holding onto them, or just holding onto who they used to be. The hardest part isn’t the possibility of losing them it’s realizing you’ve been losing them little by little for a long time.
