I think social media in its current form doesn’t allow artists to be flash in the pan successes anymore. 15 years ago an artist could be popular for two years then we’d never hear from then again and that was just the norm at the time whereas now artists will flop but have 10M instagram followers so it’s more noticeable they’re falling off.

For me personally, I just don’t think she ever handled the lawsuit in a way that I found acceptable. when I first read about the lawsuit, I very much felt like it seemed she hadn’t realized that she was in a position of power, that she didn’t realize that she was no longer the lowest rung on the ladder. She’s not the hype friend anymore, she’s the boss and encouraging people to do things can be coercive. I felt as though if she had addressed it in that way, it would’ve been fine. Instead she just denied it and denied it and badmouthed her dancers which I did not appreciate or think was acceptable and I’ve just never gotten over that.

I feel like this should be a lesson that a lot of the alleged success artists have is really manufactured by their labels. Once the label stops sending the music to radio,paying for playlisting on Spotify etc, the curtains fall

I think the discussion around how badly her album has done would've brought her more streams if the music was actually good. I haven't listened to it all but the closing track is literally an alarm sound. it's just not good
