I saw a video from a shop the other day where it treated men playing mtg like clueless children being dropped off at daycare and being burdens in their wife. People thought it was funny. Why is boomer humor making a comeback? I don't like this stereotyping of the magic community at all it's gross and upholds the legitimate issues of inclusivity in "nerd" spaces.

My husband and I both play. We do both make the jokes about “don’t tell (spouse) that I spent so much”. The thing is…the other person is 4ft away in the same store and can 100% hear all of it. I think that part is what makes it funny to us.

its not that deep. this is just a joke, i know women who this joke and Idc what your relationship with your wife or husband is like, let's just play commander. creating a barrier between genders in the hobby? that seems like a stretch. its not a joke. im not ripping on people but I will go home if it smells too bad. my play group is consistent enough that I can find a game usually without going to the lgs.
