@thenewsmovement: Jace Boland is one of nine defendants whose case stemmed from a Gaza solidarity encampment at Swarthmore College. In spring 2025, students set up the encampment to pressure the college to divest from Israel and end its relationship with Cisco Systems. After three days, police dismantled the encampment and arrested nine activists, who initially faced misdemeanor criminal trespassing charges carrying a maximum sentence of up to one year in jail. On Monday, June 29, the defendants announced they had accepted a plea agreement. Under the deal, they pleaded no contest to a summary offense, will complete eight hours of community service, pay court costs, and the summary offense will remain on their records. The case is one of a small number across the U.S. in which organizers have faced criminal charges stemming from pro-Palestinian campus activism. We reached out to Swarthmore College for comment but have yet to hear back. @reemxfarhat reports.

Lynn Murray :
Gawd! The insane dissonance, the incongruous relationship between the institution's mission and its actions!
That's not only embarrassing; it's shameful.
