We also need pledges to cover expenses for a rescue to tag A2080 Jemma 6/27stray I beagle mix I female | 1Y | 35lbs 1 HW+high I've been thinking about Jemma ever since I got home from the shelter. Every once in a while, I meet a dog who reminds me why we volunteer, to honor the belief that every dog deserves a chance, even when the odds are long and the system is stacked against them. She's on the eu list because she's terrified, a level of fear I don't often see. When I met her, she was curled tightly into the corner of her kennel, shaking. I leashed her and walked outside, but once we got out there, her panic took over. She hid under a car, thrashed, pulled so hard she was choking herself, and even hurt herself trying to run away. Watching her struggle shattered me. You can tell this is a dog who has lived through more trauma in her 1 year of life than most dogs ever will. But when she finally calmed down, she let me pet her. She wanted comfort. She just doesn't want to be trapped in a kennel for 23.5 hours a day waiting to be euthanized, and I understand where that fear comes from. I know it's a long shot, but l'm hoping someone out there can give her a chance. She did meet another pup and showed no negative behavior. Jemma willneed a patient foster.
