@pharmingpharmacist: Calling all dahlia growers and gardeners🚨🚨🚨 I need help identifying this garden pest! I’ve never seen these before and google is telling me it’s black aphids. I’ve removed the infested leaves and cleaned off the stem. Is there any other solution? Help! #garden #flowergarden #cutflowers #gardening #dahlia
I have two dahlias and have no idea what to do with them so they’re on their own

I use a neem and peppermint solution with a little dish soap mixed in! Not sure if that would help??

Girl I’ve got aphids thrips and beetles. I had to order beneficial insects and release them all over and who knows if it’ll work

Those are definitely army worms and it looks like they’ve been feeding for awhile because they’re originally super tiny green lil worms lol. Anyway definitely dispose of any you see immediately and then I would recommend spraying with BT (you can get on Amazon) but only in the evening when the sun is going down and the pollinators aren’t out. And then after that spot check to make sure there are not anymore wandering around eating your stuff. You can usually tell they’re around because you’ll see damage like that on your leaves and then also some little poop drops they leave.

Hey so I’m from Canada and I just started planting dahlias and i had some of those black bean aphids attacked my plants last week. I sprayed some dish soap and water. It worked so good. But some of the new foliage was burned from the soap. So I switched to a 3 in one 1 spray. It work to an extend. They new shoots wasn’t burned but I still see some eggs. Definitely the soap water woorks better. Just spray wash the dahlia leaves after a few hours after applying

Zone 6b here and very jealous of how tall your dahlias are already 😏 I hear spraying with diluted, unscented dishsoap helps pests!
