@thedrdurag: This a joke but i don’t play bout my patients preferences lol. On one of my first days the patient made a similar reference to get a laugh out of me which eased the tension. I appreciated them for allowing me to be a part of their care in such a vulnerable moment but also when others were not comfortable I was more than understanding to remove myself. If someone doesn’t want you as a med student/resident to be a part of their care it’s nothing to take personal, they’ve come to your healthcare system to get the best care possible and you can still deliver that by coordinating the best resources for them that align with their wishes
