@adivunsolicited: Replying to @LurkingBoo When we talk about global anti-Blackness, we often run into the exact same wall of defense, no matter the country: 🇦🇷 “That history is false, we don't have that here.” 🇩🇴 “We aren’t Black or white, we’re all mixed.” 🇺🇸 “Slavery was so long ago, why are we still talking about this?” 🇪🇺 “Racism is strictly an American problem.” 🇿🇦 “We’ve moved past that, we are a rainbow nation.” Same script. Different accents. But here’s the historical reality we have to understand: The denial of oppression isn’t separate from the oppression it is the final phase of it When commenters deflect by pointing out America’s very real flaws or asking “How dare an American speak on our history?" they are executing a classic defense mechanism. They want to frame race as a uniquely U.S. invention. But America didn't invent the concept of race. The global racial hierarchy was deliberately constructed by European empires to justify colonialism, the transatlantic slave trade, and global subjugation. That playbook was exported worldwide, and today, settler colonies use strategic historical amnesia to protect institutional wealth and power. From Argentina’s 19th-century state-sponsored "whitening projects" (which systematically erased a population that was over one-third Black in 1800) to the rewriting of school curriculums from Santo Domingo to Cape Town to Washington D.C.the method remains unchanged: 1️⃣ Manufacture the structural inequality. 2️⃣ Rewrite the textbooks and alter the census. 3️⃣ Gaslight the descendants of the people who built the nation into believing *they* are being divisive for mentioning it. When people say "there is no racism here," they often genuinely believe it. Because they weren't just taught history they were taught the lie that became the culture. The uniform changes. The playbook doesn't. #argentina #racism #BlackTikTok #BlackHistory #History

The situation in Belfast proved Europe is wrong. Just because their history is white washed doesn’t make it correct. And Argentina should be out right ashamed of their history. They are the poster child for genocide.

I greatly appreciate the way that you break down seemingly, complex real world experiences. I have these thoughts, but so infrequently do I find the right words to convey that in conversation. So I find myself, sending your videos to anyone that I’m unable to express myself without frustration too. So thank you. Keep doing what you do cause I’m watching and sharing. 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾

I appreciate the history lesson and agree that understanding the past matters. We can’t fully understand today’s world without acknowledging colonialism, slavery, and the lasting effects they’ve had in many places.
That said, I also think it’s important to leave room for perspective. None of us today chose the circumstances we were born into. We inherited both the good and the bad from previous generations. Without history unfolding the way it did, however painful or unjust, we also wouldn’t be the people we are today.
Racism and discrimination still exist, and they should be confronted wherever they appear. But I hope these conversations also encourage people to build something better together, rather than leaving everyone feeling defined by the worst parts of history.
Learning the truth about the past is important. So is deciding what we do with that knowledge in the present. 🇵🇪🤝🌎
