running an inhouse storage solution os good ... but if your data is valuable it should be stored in different locations. I'm saying this because where i used to live we had very bad luck with lightning strikes and lost a couple of computers.

Currently running Immich on a small home server as well and it’s a gem. But I’m a bit hesitant to completely get rid of all iCloud Photos because I feel like I need some type of redundancy just in case.

I’ve been dealing with the issue for the past year. Apple’s pricing for backup storage is ridiculous and the fact I can’t automate it locally OTA to an encrypted local backup is monopolistic and predatory. Was pulling for that class action but it got tossed. Immich has not been as seamless of an experience as I’d like

How do you actually back the photos up from your phone?I use photosync with a shortcut to transfer new photos to a smb share when i plug my charger in.
