IMO does it even matter if she is chronologically older than Clark? The most important part to her character in my eyes is that she lived with kryptonian culture making her life without it much more difficult to accept.

because the modern era isn’t the only version where she’s younger. there’s been like 60 plus years of supergirl in comics and she wasn’t always older then clark depending on the era

On krypton she was a teen and Clark was a infant. Traveling to earth her pod got stuck slowing her aging process. By the time she reached earth and aging process as normal Clark was full-grown man. Due to being stuck she physically appears younger but in actual age she is older. And the fact that Clark has to teach her how to adapt to earth and her powers and makes him kind of seem like the “older” one as well.

I was very confused about that as well. And for the ppl asking does it really matter, yes it does. That is why Kara has trauma bc she remembers a krypton not affected by anything. She canonically stronger than him bc of this. Their relationship is much different bc they changed this. Kara was originally sent to protect Clark but bc she got stuck in the phantom zone, and was unable to do that. She grapples with hella guilt about that. It was a very unnecessary change, that actually messing things up and doesn’t help the story

Golden age Supergirl was younger than Clark and raised on Argo after the destruction of Krypton. Post Crisis Supergirl is older than Clark. Both were valid choices 🤷♂️

It’s not really a change it’s actually her original origin story. Kara has a Pre Crisis and a Post Crisis origin story. The one used in the movie was her Pre Crisis origin and the one you’re referring to is her post Crisis origin

I like her being older because she loses her home world twice and I think it’s more impactful that way. I mean who wouldn’t be a little fd up if you watched your home disappear twice before you even became an adult

They didn’t want to explain her age to non comic fans. The first script had her older than clark! (Also gunn didn’t want the phantom zone mentioned and that would probably be the easiest option out of phantom zone suspended animation and timewarps causing kara to not age)

Not having her being born on Krypton just really undermines her trauma she no longer holds the weight of the world on her shoulders and doesn’t remember the entirety of Krypton as her home just Argo. Just her life on Krypton and the tragedy of losing her entire home world not only differentiates her from Clark, it’s also just such a big part of her character and the journey she goes on in the comic changing it just makes no sense.

They used the Silver Age (original) origin of Supergirl for that. Her being older was a post-crisis retcon.

That’s not something that always existed in the comics. The suspended animation, “lost while coming to Earth” thing is relatively recent. Her original and most common origin is being raised on Argo city, and then coming to Earth.
