It makes you not use your brain or resources, long term makes you dependent on the machine instead of your own intelligence.

people are over doing it. the water thing is a non issue we have infinite water. the power issues will get worked out pretty quickly, and it will continue to improve year over year just like it has. it a total net benifit to the species

Depends on what you use it for. Using it for research: it's often incorrect. Using it for decision making and creativity: in studies it's been found to reduce our brain's ability to do so. Using it to talk because you're lonely: doesn't actually help in the long run and just leaves you in a continuous loop of isolation. And it does impact the environment, so using it without a good reason (ex: not using it for bs like 2+2) is just wasting resources

It is similar to the CO2 emissions argument, where one regular person's usage does not nearly compare to corporations. The hyper scale AI data centers being built and taking everyone's water and power are not primarily being used by individual users, but by companies to handle heavy lifting in their internal processes.

It all starts from not being able to properly process thoughts, this leads you to asking others about basic things such as what the downside of ai could be

the amount of water they use for cooling data centres for ai is insane, causing many places with these centres to be in a draught. also it’s been proven to be extremely inaccurate.

there are none, there's just a lot of Twitter artists on here who don't realise it has more uses than making bad art.

Ask it questions on something you have deep knowledge of and you’ll realise how pointless it is for most case scenarios.

what do you use it for when you specifically seek out and open AI - not your phone or something else that uses it as a byproduct, but what do YOU open the generative AI for? that's the first important question.

Just like books, calculator, computers, smartphones, search engines: each came and caused a strange in how we use our brains. Books stopped us from memorizing tons of things. Calculators stopped is from do math quickly I’m our heads. The pattern continues each thing weakens part of our own functioning in trade. AI is weakening our own memory and creativity. Basically we are getting dumber but can do more with the tools I’m less time. It’s all good until the electricity goes out.

I think they are setting us up to be very dependent on it one day it. Trying to get us comfortable with it all. First it was Alexa, now ChatGPT. I can’t say anything because I use chat daily. It’s so helpful 😅

its funny you ask for the downsides of ai but you're only interacting with people who also use ai daily.. :/

GENERATIVE AI is ruining creativity where a few words make what is expected to overtake artists and animators. Many people abuse its research capabilities and some people use it instead of studying. It is a good TOOL but should not replace learning naturally
