There is deep truth in what you say. But it is also dangerous to intervene at scale on the societal level. Centralized solutions often make things worse.

You should read Sebastian Junger’s book “Tribe.” I’d love to hear your analysis.

Yes, our fears are situational but what can a sociologist do to change anything?

I think the changes have to come from a policy level, but guided strongly by science… at least in an ideal world 😅

I’ve heard orcas are more social than us, other than that I agree. E.g., many people describe depression as a societal issue, but I’ve never heard an idea on how they are connected. What could be the causes and solutions? If people started talking about it, a change could really happen.

I agree. more than ever we are treated as groups, and affected with blanket rules and regulations. Until we fix our fucked society, our minds will be affected by it on mass level

I think the TV show the Traitors has shown us a lot about people and especially the herd mentality. Humans are insecure and have low self esteem, so if they try to fit in with others and ignoring their own thoughts and feelings. The ego then takes over and we get so much negativity. It all comes down to parenting, how we talk to our children is how they will talk to themselves as adults.

yep. this is why a lot of school supports just make things worse... they make it a problem of resilience, or personal strategies, and if only we help the kid deal with it better then it'll be fine. but when the kid doesn't deal with it better... because they often don't... because the therapy or intervention are actually solutions to an adult's problem... they're left thinking they're even more broken and burdensome and unfixable than before. you can't resilience your way out of an existential threat

This is what the Holistic Psychologist has been saying. Our human response to our environment and circumstances shouldn’t be labeled as mental illness
