sometimes I force myself to unmask through my physical appearance. For example if I don't shave, my appearance doesn't match masking because I'm doing something that's not socially acceptable, which means I end up acting in a more authentic way. It also allows me to select people that will be okay with me being different earlier.

I don’t feel it quite as much with my physical appearance, but I heavily relate to the feeling/realization of never having been myself with other people. Even people I’m closer to often don’t know much about me, because I get caught up in trying to present myself in a consistent way, and I feel like I have to continue being who they thought I was when they first knew me. Anyways. Terrible realization, but I WILL be adding, “ugh Shrek, there are so many more layers to this onion of me” to my vocabulary so thanks

I cannot unmask, my adult self has been built upon this mask. For me it’s about integrating my more adult self with the more vulnerable self . I say that with ease but it currently is too hard

i have adhd and recently started taking vyvanse, and i feel like it “unmasks” me. and while its interesting to see the “real” me, its also scary. my social anxiety freaks out when my vyvanse wears off.
