@zulu.abassa: It’s a combination of things that inspired this painting, but one that is dear to my heart is my Grandmother. This section of the painting is inspired by memories of her reminding me to check the stove whenever I would boil some water for her. It made me think about how easy it is for the kettle’s whistle to blend into the noise in the background, if we let it. I made this piece as a reminder to check the temperature every so often. Just like her voice, It is a gentle reminder to check on yourself.
