In Italy, we don’t usually fully cover our meals in heavy sauces or creams. Instead, there is a strong focus on balance and simplicity in cooking. The idea is that each ingredient should still be recognizable and able to express its own flavor, rather than being hidden under too many additions.
This is what makes Italian food special: it’s often simple, but carefully prepared so that every component matters. For example, pasta is typically dressed lightly so you can still taste the texture and quality of the pasta itself, along with the sauce rather than being overwhelmed by it. The same goes for bread, which is often enjoyed in a way that lets its natural flavor come through.

They have locations in the US. I think there are at least three in NYC and one in Vegas and one in LA.

in Italy, they’re not heavy on sauces or creams it’s supposed to be simple so uu can focus on the fresh flavors. Italian food is not meant for everyone. In America there’s too much sauce, seasoning etc. I was born & raised in Italy and then I moved to New York the food is very different and for different taste palettes. If uu don’t like simple food with little seasoning or ure not used to it ure not going to really like Italian food.

My memory of European sandwiches is always on the drier side but after a couple weeks of being there, I started to appreciate it. I think in the US we drown out the flavors of the ingredients with sauce

Keith! I’m an American living in Italy and I see you’re learning the truth… that Italian food is fine and fresh but definitely overrated and overhyped.

Been living in Italy for the last two years and the food is…meh. They don’t believe in any sauce/condiments on their sandwiches but the food is very fresh which I can appreciate.
