There are more reasons, I’m using my own country as an example. 1, Adding ac is also very expensive, it’s roughly €2000 a room. Not everyone has that money to spare 2, a lot of power grids are already pushing it, they are already struggling with the medium adoption of ev’s, let alone mass ac adoption. We’d have to upgrade our entire power grid to compensate

there's several problems: 1. Historically most of Europe doesn't get this hot so our houses are not built for keeping cool, they are built for keeping warm. 2. Many of us lives in old buildings where it's near impossible and extremely expensive to install aircondition. And a lot of people rent and may not be allowed to install it. 3. Most aircondition units simply isn't possible to install. We can't get those window units because our windows don't open up like that. 4. A lot of people in apartments lives on top of some sort of business which means that that business likely owns the apartment and likely has their own AC that the apartments are not connected to and they won't allow the tennants to install their own

as Polish person, never heard more shit explenation than that. We have 3 mothns in summer that can be hot, AC is just expensive and it's just not common. It's not climat, it's not "it's fro USA so no!". It's just expensive, not common and not neccessary for most of the time. (Talking ONLY about homes). My friends got AC

They ban AC while they have AC at work and I'm sure they have at home too... Basically the law is only for the regular people. I live in Spain and have AC a lot of people have here more than other European countries because Spain is one of the hottest in Europe, and it's the best thing, the only problem is they put electricity with really high prices so people can't use it a lot, I can double or even triple my electricity bill by just using the AC a few hours everyday.

Im living in Italy, in the few places that do have ac is at 25 degrees or they use it with the windows open because they think is bad for your health. Meanwhile im working as a cleaning lady and can’t take it anymore, most days the headaches are killing me

Electricity in Europe is very expensive . Especially since the war with Ukraine started . All new buildings in majority of Europe have AC. The problem is with old , history buildings that have very thick walls and installation is almost impossible

Electricity co2 argument makes no sense. In summer there is oversupply of electricity from solar, so they pay to grid balancers to take this excess electricity off from grid. In best cases it’s battery, but in many cases it’s just transformator intended to consime excess electricity.

TO BE CLEAR: this happened, but not as is being stated. The building has been experiencing total blackouts, and cutting the AC on the lower floors was one way to combat that. They had to do *something* and decided on this because, in theory, lower floors would be less affected because heat rises. It's a crappy situation, but it wasn't about making a point about energy, etc. -- it was specifically about the one building's systems not working.
