@jennahkaye: If burgers are on the menu, fresh buns are always a good idea. 🍔 Mix 190g lukewarm water, 100g sourdough discard, 10g instant yeast, and 15g sugar. Let sit 5-10 minutes for yeast to activate. Add 1 room temp egg, 27g unsalted butter, and 14g salt. Once mixed, slowly add 415g bread flour. Knead for 5-7 min. Divide into 6-8 pieces and shape into balls. Place on parchment paper/baking sheet and press down gently with palm of hand to slightly flatten. Cover with towel & let rise for 30-45 min. Preheat oven 425. Once dough has risen, coat with egg wash (1 egg & splash of water) and sesame seeds. Bake in oven for 15-18 min or until golden brown. Let cool before cutting. NO SOURDOUGH- BURGER BUNS Ingredients:
• 2 tbsp active dry yeast
• 1 cup warm water
• 1/3 cup avocado or olive oil
• 1/4 cup granulated sugar or honey
• 1 large egg, beaten
• 1 tsp salt
• 3 to 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Directions:
• Pour warm water into a large bowl. Add yeast, oil, and sugar. Let it sit and foam for 5-10 minutes, until nice and bubbly.
• Whisk in the egg, then slowly mix in the salt and flour until you have a soft, non-sticky dough.
• Knead the dough for 3-5 minutes using a stand mixer with the dough hook, or knead it by hand. The dough should be smooth and elastic.
• Divide into 8 hamburger buns and shape into even-sized balls.
• Place the dough on a lined baking sheet and preheat the oven to 400°F. Cover and let rise for 10-15 minutes.
• Brush the buns with the egg wash, then sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired
• Bake until golden brown, around 15 minutes.
