Wildlife rehab or take him back to the area where you got him. It’s very difficult for Opossums to be dumped off in a new place. Thank you for helping the little guy😊

They “play dead” but what actually happens is their heart rate goes through the roof. They are paralyzed with fear. When the heart rate comes down, they will begin to “wake up“

Thanks for mostly all great comments on here. I’m obviously no expert in animal control. I did what I could do at 730 at night, which was reach out to who I thought could steer me in the right direction. Yes, these are wild animals, yes I could have watched him hobble off and die, which he still may have. All I wanted was to give him a shot at making it through the night. Shelter, water and food. That’s what I gave him. I would save a damn toad, people. I have a love for all ann

I had a big 1 laying in the backyard, looking dead. picked him up put him in trash can, he was gone by the morning. he was playing possum
