Ok guys I looked it up- the tree is now growing 12 new shoots out of the stump! They are hoping they will grow into a tree once again but it will take decades. They have also taken seeds from the original tree and planted 49 saplings all over the area in special locations. So it lives on. 🌳

The tree was called the “sycamore gap” tree, it was almost 200 years old and stood alone, alongside “Hadrians Wall” its entire life. It’s considered to be one of the most photographed trees in the world, and has been used in film and television. So for those of you saying, it’s just a tree, is a tree ever just a tree? Or perhaps, besides providing beauty and shade, fruit and nuts, home for animals, wood for building shelter when it’s life comes to an end, it also provides oxygen the very life force to keep civilization alive.

It's not about "Cutting Down a Tree" it's about respect of community. They didn't cut it down for any purpose other than to deprive future generations of its beauty. It would be similar to pushing over Stonehenge.

for those who saying "it's just a tree" that tree was standing on the Hardians Wall site a UNESCO World Heritage Site which was protected under the law,any removal, modifications, changing or destructive acts within the site without legal authority is strictly prohibited and is considered a crime.
