I am a woman and a huge comic nerd, but I always find myself wanting less big cgi fights and more interpersonal stories, moral/ethical dilemmas, and characters genuinely going through traumatic things that they need to heal from. not just big battles. im so tired of big battles. and for the record, I also really do care about how a movie looks. it should have sone sort of cohesive creative vision, not just "gritty/realistic"

It's the story, Pargin, duh. You're an author! I went to Supergirl on opening night. The only things wrong with this movie are the story (mainly the pointless boring cliché indestructible villain) and the bad filming of the fight scenes. Great cast.

Look… back in the dark ages of 1979, Sigourney Weaver was the hero and star of a film that was a blockbuster. I remember standing in line for half hour to get tickets. Sigourney was amazing, but also the film had a terrific story, acting, and design. The lesson is: just make a freaking good movie.

I like superheroes as a genre, but like others have said, the writing usually isn’t very good and is just plot progression versus building thoughtful characters and a character arc. I always leave thinking “a bunch of stuff happened I guess” but I don’t feel emotionally impacted in any way. Give us complicated dynamics, moral struggles, make the superheroes more “human” instead of just beings that smash and say cool one-liners until they save the day.

I resent that at the same time superhero movies were taking over the theaters, romantic comedies stopped being made. I refuse to go see any of them for that reason.

Because superhero movies lost their general appeal. The only people who go to see superhero movies nowadays are the huge fans of either the studio, or the character. And let’s face it— supergirl was never going to even come close to matching Superman in IP appeal. But the studio funded it like she would.

I care a lot more about story than graphics. I go to the theater for like 2-3 movies a year, and I go for a good story. Usually, I prefer checking DVDs out at the library.

I think supergirl would have done better if they had spent more time setting her up in Superman. Lobo had way more screen time in supergirl than supergirl had in Superman. I bet a lobo movie would do way better.

Casting is a real problem. I watched the Supergirl TV show because that actually was charming. The lady they cast for the film just doesnt seem likeable. Thats my problem too with Captain Marvel and a couple others 🫤

Wonder Woman directed by Greta Gerwig with Linda Carter in a prominent supporting role is the right direction if we're working in super heroes. Bionic Woman in the same vein, too. Super Girl wasn't ever massively popular
