the point of a gun is to protect yourself and your family from violent criminals. a criminal is not going to wait for you to unlock your gun case. yes, keep it out of reach of small children. but also, teach your kids gun safety. most 99% of accidents happen from mishandling a firearm. whan kids understand its not a toy and learn how to respect a gun there aren't issues.

In NJ they have to locked up away from children. They even come to your home to make sure they're locked away. We can't even get on until we're 21 and need to apply for it at the police station and then it goes through a long process to get. They do extensive background checks and Phsyc test. Its a great, long process to get one. Look it up. I'm happy with the process here (NJ) and no I don't have one because I don't need one.

in Canada guns must be locked in a gun safe, unloaded, with ammo stored in a separate part of the safe, and a trigger guard must also be on the gun.
