It's because Mojang is afraid to make anything new take up meaningful space. Cherry Blossom Forests and Pale Oak Forests have the same issue. They're tiny.

This is how I’ve been feeling since cherry biomes dropped. Imagine spending hours looking for one, and it’s 2 fkn trees. 2!!! Like sure I can plant the saplings and make a forest, but the biome atmosphere spans all of 10 blocks 💀
