In this universe, Donatello has set aside most of his usual inventions and research to focus almost entirely on studying plasma, radiation, and molecular structure. His only goal is to understand what happened to Raphael and find a way to stabilize—or reverse—his condition. His experiments constantly involve radioactive materials and plasma energy, causing his laboratory to become partially contaminated over time. Because of this, only Donnie can normally enter the lab. Anyone else who needs to go inside must wear protective equipment and undergo a decontamination process both before entering and after leaving. Raphael is the only exception, since much of the research is conducted directly on him. The countless failed experiments only fuel Donnie's frustration, leaving him increasingly stressed. He carries a deep sense of guilt over the Kraang reactor accident, believing he should have found a way to prevent the failure instead of escaping. Even though he knows he didn't have enough knowledge about plasma at the time to stop the disaster, he still blames himself for what happened—and, deep down, he also blames Leonardo for the decision that was made in that moment. Since the accident, Donatello has rarely taken part in patrols. He spends almost all of his time isolated in his laboratory, working tirelessly. When he does leave, it's rare to see him wearing anything other than his protective suit. #tmnt #teenagemutantninjaturtles #tmnt2012 #tmntau #fyp - @yuri_killy
