@cbsnews: A woman who was swimming with her friend and boyfriend in the Econlockhatchee River in Florida was severely bitten by an alligator on Sunday. On the 911 call, the victim's friend tells the dispatcher that the alligator nearly removed both her arms. The victim later died at the hospital, CBS News' @Cristian Benavides reports. This was the third alligator attack in the state this week. They were hiking and decided to go in to cool off because it is so ridiculously hot in Florida right now. She was kneeling in shallow water when it happened, not swimming. She probably thought just go in for a minute to cool off and they didn’t see a gator close by.

This is so sad. People who aren’t from Florida don’t realize that gator attacks are extremely rare. With that said, I hike at this exact location all the time, and the water gives totally creepy vibes… It’s dark and you can’t see well, and you will see large gators basking on the shores. There are so many safer places to swim like the springs. However many people camp at this trail and they may have just been having a good time and wanted to wade in the water. Rest in peace, beautiful Florida woman. You went too soon, but I’m glad you were surrounded by friends in beautiful nature making great memories just before this. 💚

My aunt who lives in Florida always says that if there is a puddle of water in Florida you can bet there is an alligator in it.

Florida is so scary . I visited and I was always afraid . There are iguanas everywhere, alligators, snakes, it’s terrible. I feel so bad for this young woman .

While walking through a nature park in Florida, I heard them didn’t even need to see them and I had my husband turn right around and get outta there. That place was known for gator sightings too.
