I am easily exhausted by full time work bc I'm autistic. so I got a PhD and became a professor 😅 I build my own schedule and working from home is a given. finding a job that fits your needs is key!!!

yeah it makes a good living ... but the notes everywhere, clip boards, sticky pads, abandoned cups, science experiments growing in the shared refrigerator, poor coping skills, left out gear, messed up trucks, gets on everyone's nerves lol

I’m an event planner. It’s an ADHD dream job. Strict deadlines, nowhere to hide, always something new, things change without warning. Running an event is the sort of non-emergency emergency that really pushes my buttons. If i had a desk job I would hate myself, never do a stroke of work and be fired.

I’ve found it’s the balance of strict rules around how to do the work, and so much coming at you constantly to feed the squirrel brain, and keep you from getting bored.

Look I am very AuDHD I thrive with a routine but need some spontaneity to keep me engaged and have a very small social battery when it comes to strangers but am very good in short customer interactions. So I'm a delivery driver that has a set route but not all my customers everyday. It's an entry level job as long as you have a driver's license so when people act like it's so hard to find a job that fits with your neurodivergence they just aren't looking hard enough or in the right places

Being a therapist is perfect for a socially awkward introvert who hates small talk but thrives in deep one-on-one conversation.

A lot of lawyers have ADHD - depending on the kind of work they do. Some areas of the law are so different every day

I feel like a lot of people say "masking" and mean "excuse to be a jerk". Like is it really forcing you to mask when we just say be generally pleasant to people you interact with?

I'm 40. Masking is exhausting. At this point, I just tell folks up front that I'm autistic and then let the hijinks play out as they may. Life's too short to be so viciously unhappy and tired.
