He needs a local Houston foster with a rescue by 1pm tomorrow. We also need pledges to cover expenses for a rescue to tag 💙Azabache A2076273 [rescue only] 5/21 euth req︱GSD mix︱male︱9Y ︱70lbs︱ HW high+ ︱ Medical: Geriatric, Heartworms, Conjunctivitis, Possible Allergies Azabache came in on 5/21 as a euthanasia request at 9 years old. Unneutered, heartworm positive, and in heartbreaking condition. Hair loss, thickened skin, eye issues… the kind of neglect we see far too often in Houston. This is what happens when a dog goes years without care. And instead of getting him help, he was surrendered like this as a euth request. But even after all that, Azabache is nothing but sweetness. I spent time with him today in the heat and he was just happy to sniff around and feel the fresh air. He knows sit, loves treats, and gently kissed my hands. He met another male dog and did well. They walked calmly side by side and he didn’t show any negative behavior. But he can be a bit forward which may not be cool with other dogs. But overall he’s quite a calm guy, very social, and honestly just grateful for any bit of attention. He really is a good boy who deserved so much better than the life he came from.
