@wordswithbones: Hangeul is the alphabet designed exclusively for the Korean language, but there’s one other language that’s officially adopted it as their writing system, in a small city in Indonesia. #koreanculture #linguistics #koreanlanguage #LanguageLearning #globaleducation

Hangeul really is so easy to learn. I learned it in less than an hour, and while I don't understand it all, I could read pretty much any text aloud with decent accuracy.

This isn't a new thing. Humans have been borrowing alphabets/scripts from one another for centuries! For example, the malay world used arabic alphabets to write malay words - Jawi. And tamils used arabic alphabets to write tamil words - Arwi. Pretty fascinating

how come you say hangul was “supposedly” created by king sejong? Is there speculation that he didn’t?

That’s so interesting cause that’s the same thing with Cantonese and Mandarin. They share the same written language, but it’s different words and different pronunciation.
