Ai is by no means good. Do not condone it. I would rather read a not well written fic over ai. That being said….this witch hunt will only result in authors deleting their fics or not writing at all.

I don't understand why authors do it, even less for fanfic writers. this isn't their job, where money is dependent on their writing quality, it's a hobby, a work of love. why the ai?

Social media has really scrambled our brains 😭 fanfiction is meant to be rewarding bc you can work on something for days and months and feel proud of putting it out there. Yeah, engagement is wonderful but what’s the point of someone loving your works if it’s not your own words? AO3 isn’t a numbers game like social media!

If you've ever read a straight up Claude fic you'll be able to spot any subsequent ones with ease. The issue was you couldn't prove it, so personally I applaud the people making tools to call that bs out.

I gotta say tho i have let it look for language mistakes tho since English isn't my first language. I dont have anyone to proof read it so I'm basically stuck with it. I dont think that is unethical so I'd be interested if there is a way to differentiate between prompting to actually write something and just setting commas right. I'm really against ai generated stories but this seems inaccurate

I have dyslexia, so I’ve used ai couple of times to check spelling(and only spelling) additionally. So it’s also not good to check spelling with ai? What do you think? (Yes, Libra office can help with most of misspelling, but not all of it).

Not gonna lie, listening to ai stories on YouTube or TikTok has made it really obvious which stories are and are not ai. AI has a writing style, it’s so weird

ao3 is an anti censorship platform and that unfortunately means that ai fics are technically allowed on the website (though an argument could be made that ai fics are plagiarism)
