This is just a simple example of an attack demo on my own test server that is intentionally not using encryption (HTTP) so I can show how traffic looks in Wireshark. This is for educational purposes only and demonstrates why insecure protocols are dangerous. Most people don’t understand how much information travels across their network, so here’s a quick Wireshark breakdown. Wireshark is a network packet analyzer that lets you see packets entering and leaving a device. When a site uses HTTP instead of HTTPS, the data is unencrypted, meaning anyone on the same network could technically inspect your traffic. This is why modern websites use HTTPS, TLS, and encrypted connections. This demo shows the difference in a very simple, safe, controlled environment. If you use public WiFi, airports, cafés, hotels, or any open network, always assume someone could be observing unencrypted traffic. Use HTTPS websites, VPNs, and avoid logging into anything sensitive while on open networks. Wireshark is one of the most powerful tools for learning about cybersecurity, pentesting, networking fundamentals, packet structure, protocols, IP addressing, TCP, UDP, QUIC, DNS, ARP, DHCP, and how devices communicate behind the scenes. The moment you see real packets flow in and out, the entire internet starts making sense. Cybersecurity isn’t just “hacking,” it’s understanding how data moves.
