You can harvest rosella seeds when the seed pods (inside the calyx) are fully mature and dry on the plant.
🌱 Signs rosella seeds are ready to harvest:
* The red calyx starts turning brown and dry.
* The seed pod becomes hard and brown.
* You can hear seeds rattling inside the pod.
* The pod begins to split open naturally.
How to collect the seeds:
1. Leave a few flowers on the plant after harvesting the calyxes.
2. Allow the seed pods to dry completely on the plant.
3. Pick the dry pods before they burst open.
4. Open the pods and remove the seeds.
5. Dry the seeds for another 1–2 weeks in a cool, shaded place before storing.
📦 Store seeds in a paper envelope or airtight container in a cool, dry location. Properly dried rosella seeds can remain viable for several years.
