@seleniumed: Gabriel's Horn is one of the wildest paradoxes in mathematics. Take the curve y = 1/x from x = 1 to infinity, and rotate it around the x-axis. You get a shape that stretches out forever - an infinitely long trumpet. Here is the crazy part: this shape has a finite volume but an infinite surface area. You could fill it with paint, but you could never paint its surface. How does that even make sense? The math behind it comes down to improper integrals. When you compute the volume using the disk method, the integral of pi/x^2 from 1 to infinity converges to pi. But when you compute the surface area, the integral diverges - it blows up to infinity. This is possible because as x gets larger, the horn gets incredibly thin. The cross-sectional area shrinks fast enough that the total volume stays finite, but the surface just keeps accumulating because the horn never actually closes off. Discovered by Evangelista Torricelli in 1641, this paradox challenged mathematicians for centuries and helped shape our understanding of infinity and convergence. Massimo :
The decimal places of Pi never end, it is a transcendental number. What does it mean that the volume is finite ?

what if you just put one gabriels horn in a larger one full of paint.

if 0.9999... equal to 1.
why can't you say that 0.0000... equal to 0?.
by that sense because the tip of the hurn is infinitely smaller the more you go on and on... than it should be equal to 0, which *is* the reason it's possible to fill it

Pi is NOT "finite." It's irrational and its digits unfold infinitely.

The weirdest part is: if you fill it, you’re also indirectly “painting the inside wall”, which is exactly the same as the outside wall.

To people who don’t understand how this is possible, let me explain with a cake! A cake has the same Volume no matter how much you cut it. Let’s say you cut the cake and always stack the pieces you get over one another, so half a cake over the other half, then four quarter pieces over each other and so on forever. The cake still has its volume from the start, but by cutting and stacking we get more surface to cover with frosting ! :)

asymptotes are weird when u try interpret em physically cuz filling that with paint somehow doesnt paint the walls

So what if you copy one, make it a bit bigger and stack them onto each other, since you said the inside does have limited space, the space between two of them will also be limited, so how is it infinite?

It's misleading because pi is an infinite number so even the volume is infinite.
