This psalm is the opening gate of the Hallel, the collection of Psalms (113‑118) that rises like a song on Jewish holidays, turning ancient words into a living celebration of freedom. Psalm 113 takes the worshipper from a wide, endless horizon, “from the rising of the sun to its setting”, down to the smallest, most intimate corner of human life. It reaches up to a God who sits enthroned above every nation, yet bends down to lift the poor from the dust and to seat the childless woman among princes, joyfully at home. In Jewish tradition, this is the song of the Exodus. It is the voice of a people who were slaves in Egypt and became servants of the One who alone is worthy of praise. For thousands of years, these brief, luminous verses, barely sixty Hebrew words, have awakened the heart before the great celebrations of the Jewish year: Passover, Shavuot, Sukkot, and Rosh Chodesh. The psalm’s power lies in its paradox. It praises a God who is utterly transcendent, higher than the heavens, yet whose glory is most visible when it raises the lowly. This is not a distant king. This is the Eternal One who sees the dust and the ashes and calls them to rise. When you sing Psalm 113, you stand at the threshold of redemption. You declare that praise is not merely a feeling, but an act of trust, a certainty that from every low place, a new morning is possible. "Hallelu‑yah." Let the name of the Lord be blessed, from now until forever.#psalms #jewishtiktok #torahsoul
