@hisulovver: Before anyone says that Alice’s mom saying “Run” was unhelpful.. Orpheus and Alice were approximately 6 & 9 years old dealing with a massacre. Yes Orpheus took initiative and protected Alice the best he could but he is still a child who looked up to the derosses.. it’s possibly they both would have stayed frozen in fear or in guilt. Also, Orpheus mentions Alice as a child had “neurosthasia” which is an old term way to describe anxiety/depressed mood etc. Which makes sense for Alice, in her family portraits she looks constantly worried or anxious. In cryptic notes we can infer that such anxiety is caused by her seeing creepy things in her dreams/around the manor ( probably will be canon too btw cryptic notes is amazing ). Right before this Alice was incredibly frightened and disturbed by the bird thrown at the window. Alice as a child was very anxious yet absolutely adored her parents. She needed to hear her mothers voice one last time, Orpheus needed it too. Mrs deross could’ve continued to play dead for a chance at survival, but she risked her life for Alice and Orpheus ..
