Within seconds, every screen in the cell lit up. “Bull…” someone whispered from the corner. “I got the call too…” But this time, the voice was different. It wasn’t the old man anymore. It was Bull’s own voice—recorded only moments earlier, right after he had dropped the phone. “Soon… we’re coming…” The recording repeated in his own voice. Bull finally snapped. He grabbed a wooden stool and began smashing it against the reinforced steel door, screaming for the guards. No one answered. Then… The locked cell door slowly began to open by itself. Beyond it there was no hallway. No lights. Only a thick, endless darkness. Out of the blackness they emerged. They weren’t inmates. They weren’t guards. They were shadows. Gray, blurred figures that moved in broken, unnatural jerks, like damaged frames from an old film reel. Leading them was the nameless prisoner who had arrived the previous night. His eyes glowed with a pale, lifeless white. The shadows drifted into the cell, draining every trace of warmth from the air. Then, behind the nameless prisoner, something impossible began to appear.
