@fairyerin: Oh girl it’s stressful out here My bpd diagnosis was scrapped but I still have a lot of empathy for the fact that people are slapped with a label and treated badly for being female and 18-25 These posts absolutely don’t discourage 14 year old girls thinking this is them because they have intense emotions
i experienced my first symptom at aged 9, i started experiencing most of the symptoms at around 11 though they werent severely impacting me though they were causing damage, i suspected i had BPD at about 14, i was certain of it by 16 and was very much having it ruin my life, i got diagnosed at 20. imagine if i had started treatment years ago, id be fine now but now im in a position of being to unwell to engage with treatment so i just keep letting it ruin my life

BPD isn’t so diagnosis that you want it’s traumatic, stigmatising & can sometimes become a barrier to care. I’m fighting so hard to have my diagnosis removed so that I actually have care for my mental health it ain’t fair, it ain’t quirky, it’s hard

There is far to much misinformation as a mental health nurse I also want to highlight to people that it’s not a death sentence - remission is so possible just takes some hard work and the right help 💗

I became symptomatic at 12 was told at that point it was more the depression and anxiety but unsure what, at 16 told by 2 psychiatrist that i most likely had bpd but they wanted me to be a bit older before having a big diagnosis and my brain to be more developmed at 20 finally got my diagnosis

I was diagnosed with bpd when I was 20, literally all because I had harmed in the past. I’m autistic.

i was diagnosed at 14 i just wasnt TOLD about my diagnosis til i was 18 and my soical worker disclosed id be diagnosed for four years. i understand not telling a child they have a personality disorder incase it causes more negative symptoms but i also could of spent them four years researching on how to get better besides group dbt, mindfulness, and anti depressants

I was misdiagnosed at 15! It’s bad how many psychiatric drs dignosed BPD at a young age and they don’t look at any other disorder. They see a young female struggling and it’s BPD!

Idk if they’re from the UK or not because here it’s regarded as terrible practice to diagnose in young adults, some even argue 25 and below!

i was suspected bpd at 13 and didnt get diagnosed until i was 19 because they shouldnt be diagnosing kids with a literal personality disorder ESPECIALLY with how biased the mental health services are

Psychiatrics and those with ethics do not like to diagnose anyone under 18 with a personality disorder or mood disorder because of how hormonal change’s can effect teens and young people even me getting diagnosed with OCD at 17 he took his time and several sessions to formally diagnose me, I also saw her video and a lot of her others just spreed even more misinformation

tbh i agree with this 100% but when i was 13 i was diagnosed with with “emerging eupd” which i think was an absolutely ridiculous label (i dont have eupd, i was misdiagnosed and have since have it removed now im an adult) but i agree that it shouldnt be diagnosed in under 18’s. theres so many other things it could be and your personality doesn’t even finish fully developing until you’re in your twenties.

camhs tried to unofficially ig dx me with BPD, putting ‘(suspected) BPD’ in my notes.. which i didn’t find out until I was 18. My dangerous behaviours, intense emotional mood swings and ‘violent outbursts’, were the reason.. I was just autistic. The dangerous behaviours were jsuf cause I didn’t really understand the danger, the intense mood swings were just how I experienced the world and the violent outbursts? Literally just meltdowns. Cause I’m autistic
