I researched and made up a term called musei-ai which just translates to genderless love, and the shortened version is musei, and I just used musei (genderless) because NB X NB is practically very uncommon in Japanese media, therefore it would be hard to have a meaning for it like yuri (lily, metaphorically delicate) and yaoi (originated from the 3 words Yama-nashi (no mountain peak/metaphorically speaking; no peak), Ochi-nashi (no punchline/depth), and Imi-nashi (no meaning). The reason why yaoi got this specific name is because it was originally made as a meaningless and depthless fan made project by bored people. It usually only focused on romance and nothing else, usually just the character’s lovelives without showing any meaning or depth to it.
