THEY WILL DESTROY THE NEW TRAIN. Yesterday between the hours of 5&6pm, the GRDA’s DMU 002 was making its way to Afienya from the Tema Harbour Station with about 150 plus passengers. A little after making a quick stop at the Ashaiman Station, there was quite a noisy impact from outside the train. The impact was felt by almost everyone on the train. Even those who were in the rare head of the set felt the impact. Most passengers assumed it was probably a stone left on the rail track by an irresponsible individual because it happens once in a while. To our astonishment at our destination, the train had hit a goat/sheep which was crossing the rail unnoticed by the engineers. This unfortunate accident destroyed the fibre material below the very train-head which made the hit. It was bad. Yes. It was bad. Aside from this unfortunate event, the engineers and other workers on this railway line have been going through a lot of accesses from some irresponsible individual who live around the Tema Industrial Area zone, locals behind Tulaku, at some part of Mataheko and even in Tema itself (from the fishing Harbour area to Ghacem area). From throwing stones towards the train, to leaving cows and other livestocks at free range to cross the line unguarded, to putting large stones on the track, crossing the rail upon seeing the train approaching with a high resounding horn and speed, to sitting and sleeping on the track after abusing drugs and are unable to even walk. These and many others are what some locals staying close to the line are doing. These irresponsible behaviors must stop. It looks like some people want to vandalize the train for their own reasons. Authorities must support the staff to maintain order, else, they will end up destroying the train for all of us. If the military or police must come in to discipline those riffraffs and irresponsible individuals as scapegoats to scare the masses and curb the situation, then that would be better. Some people have lost their lives in some of these circumstances and it must not continue. #GovernmentofGhana #GhanaRailwayDevelopmentAuthority #TemaMpakadanRailway #fffffffffffyyyyyyyyyyypppppppppppp #trainaccident
