I think people forget something, Wei Wuxian's father was the second hand of jfm as Wei Wuxian was for JC, and he does not abandon Yummeng Jiang until he meets Cangse Sanren, which was the free spirit, she obviously didn't want to be on a Sect, she wanted to travel because before she lived on a mountain with no news or experiences from the outside, so because of her Wei Changze accept to leave Yummeng Jiang. Jiang loved him, at least Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli but their were kids when most of things happens and they had no choice or vote in their parents decisions. Overanalyzing much?? Wwx's parents always visited the Jiangs. Before and after getting married and before and after having wwx. Thats how JFM know that they died. Because they were close. Also WWX's mother was never part of a sect. She wasnt running from a system, she was never part of the system. It made more sense for them to start their own clan than join the Jiangs. There was no cage being placed. If WWX had been raised by his parents, he would be using his mother's techniques rather than the Jiangs. That wouod be the only difference.

I think jfm actions is just what you would expect from his relationship with wwx. At the end of the day, wwx isn't his son but he's also not a stranger. He can dote on wwx charm and talent as the clan head + uncle, but no matter how close they get, he has his own children. And he's not really the best in rs whether with his wife or children, so I did not expect him to be a great father figure to someone else. Imo, he cared for wwx as someone who is friends with his parents, and not as a father. He searched for the orphaned wwx, with enough care of an uncle but not enough desperation as a father.
