Replying to @yuri_carrasco2 It’s going to get uncomfortable… For the longest time we weren’t on the same page. I wanted to leave and my husband, didn’t. We were raised with this idea that when you worked hard you could retire wherever you want but the truth is, we couldn’t wait until tomorrow… 1. Start with “WHY” not where: talk about the life you want to create, not necessarily where you want to live (yet) 2. Share what’s not working: be honest about how you feel, burnout, money, lifestyle, safety, etc. You might both be feeling it but scared to say it 3. Discuss your fears: moving abroad is scary. It’s unknown. It’s a risk. Lay out all your hesitation on the table to tackle it together 4. See the bigger picture: it’s about what you want your lives to look like in 1 year, 5 years, etc. Do you want to be able to walk to your favorite restaurant for dinner, or have a work life balance where you have time for breakfast on your balcony? 5. Small steps, not big moves: start a mock budget to see what your ideal life might cost you abroad, spend a month traveling to your desired destination, watch videos from those who did it to see it can be a reality This is a big decision that ultimately is two yeses, one no. It took me 11 years to convince my husband. What ultimately made the choice was our children’s safety in schools and a more balanced life. If I could do it, you can too Follow @casabolanos for more on moving abroad - Move abroad, living abroad, married life, life abroad, family abroad, #familyabroad #moveabroad #liv#livingabroadlifevingabroadwithkids #marriedlife
