Are you a tourist spot person or an off the beaten path one? I think I’m less attracted to tourist attractions. But there are things you just cannot skip, like the Forbidden City if you go to Beijing 🇨🇳. So there we went. 🤷 And after visiting the Forbidden City in Beijing (which I did not enjoy, btw), we crossed the road to go to 景山公园 Jingshan Park. And that I enjoyed way more. 👍 I’m sure the Forbidden City is super interesting when you visit it with a good guide or when you actually know about Chinese History (which I don’t). But when the only info you get comes from the official audio guide, the visit quickly becomes boring. 🫤 Also, the place is so crowded you can barely move or take a picture. 🙄 Jingshan Park is crowded too, but less, and it’s way more quieter. And greener. And from there you get to see the city and the Forbidden City from above. Near the entrance, there’s a venue called 澄茶 Cheng Cha, similar to the small snack booths you can find in public parks anywhere in the world. And of course the quality of the products they sell also is similar to that of similar places in other countries... unfortunately. 👎 I had lychee peach tea and a 肉夹馍 rou jia mó (you know, the Chinese “burger” 🍔). I can’t say that was bad. But I already forgot how it tasted. And I think that says it all. My son had a cheese roast duck wrap 🧀🦆🌯, which I did not try, but the look of it wasn’t great. The place was packed, but literally packed, like we could barely sit or move. And it was dirty. 👎 No table service there (of course!), and ¥26 (€3.3) for a mó and ¥36 (€4.5) for a tea are prices dangerously close to the ones in Europe 🇪🇺, hence absurdly expensive for China. 🤦 I suggest you wait a few minutes and find a place outside the park before or after your visit. . . . @estefaniasort #roujiamo #肉夹馍 #jingshanpark #景山公园 #beijingfood
