I’ve never made the connection of the manna and the Eucharist. That is mind blowing. Yeshua is found all through the Bible.

I officially became Catholic two days ago and was confirmed into the Church. Took the Eucharist for the first time and it definitely it spiritual medicine for your soul. I could tell that after the first time taking Christ that if I continued to do so while also going to confession then the old past sins that used to haunt me will truly end up having no more hold over me. And my soul will become more and more sanctified in Christ. Can’t wait to take my second Eucharist on Sunday 🙏

This smuggles in a huge assumption. The question assumes that the new manna is the bread and wine itself. The new manna is Jesus. So the question is only meaningful if you already assume the bread and wine is Jesus. The counter claim is that it’s not actually Jesus, or the new manna itself. It’s a physical representation of our spiritual participation in the consumption of the word of God. So realistically this question or argument only works if you already assume the argument it’s trying to make. If you don’t, it’s essentially a category error.

If we insist that “This is my body” must mean literal identity because Jesus used the word “is,” then consistency demands the same approach everywhere. Jesus also said, “I am the door,” “I am the vine,” and “I am the light of the world.” No one concludes He literally consists of wood, branches, or only light.
The question never centers on the word “is.” The question centers on context. At the Last Supper, Jesus still held His physical body while holding the bread. The bread signified His body soon given on the cross. Just as the Passover lamb pointed to God’s redemption, the bread points to Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice.
Scripture calls us to trust the Savior, not to redefine the substance of the bread.

Dr Brant Pitre is one of my professors at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, and as a man studying for the Priesthood his books truly open my mind and heart to Jesus in the Eucharist! I love you Jesus, who is the new Manna given to us as our true food for eternal life!

I’m not disagreeing but I’ve heard someone put it like this. The OT is the physical while the NT is the spiritual. So the mana of old was real physical bread while the mana (Jesus) of new Spirit. Very interesting though man

The Methodist say the bread is not a symbol or the physical body… it’s a mystery too great for words. I like that balanced perspective
