Thinking about buying a new Infiniti? Please learn from our experience.
Our brand-new 2026 Infiniti QX80 Sport suffered a catastrophic transmission failure with fewer than 1,000 miles while we were on a family trip. The vehicle lost power on the freeway, displayed AWD, ABS, suspension, and emissions warnings, and had to be towed. Infiniti ultimately replaced the entire transmission.
The vehicle remained out of service for 40 days. After months of navigating Infiniti’s arbitration process, Infiniti determined that we qualified for a replacement vehicle under the lemon law process and approved both a replacement vehicle and reimbursement.
Unfortunately, the experience did not improve after that decision. More than 70 days after this ordeal began, we are still chasing updates, leaving repeated voicemails, sending follow-up emails, and resubmitting documents that had already been provided. We have repeatedly been given timelines that were not met, promises that were not kept, and inconsistent communication throughout the process. We were even instructed to insure our replacement vehicle before taking possession of it, despite not being given a delivery date.
Mechanical failures can happen. What defines a company is how it responds afterward. Based on our experience, Infiniti has failed to provide the level of accountability, communication, and customer care that we expected from a luxury brand.
