What needs to be taught is how to handle finances. How to become entrepreneurs. How to navigate pay rises with your boss. Side businesses. How to increase your income.

I created a LISA account but have a few grand in debt. I can’t see me ever being able to afford my own place so wondering if I should just sack what I have saved so far, pay debts off and loose the 25% 🤷🏼♀️what’s the point in having the savings account if I’ll never be able to save a meaningful amount for my own place- I’m 37, single and can’t see me meeting anyone to go halfsies with

David Spencer :
If you put £4000 in an isa and invest it in google stock for example, and £4000 in a lisa in google stock the lisa instantly gets a 25% bonus, if google then carries on growing at 19% annulised for 10 years the isa is worth £26,348.45 but the lisa is worth £32,935.57. If you are then lucky enough to add £4000 per year to both accounts for the next 10 years, the lisa automatically adds £5000 per year, isa value after 10 years is £134,077.29 and the lisa would be £167,596.61.

Worth noting that moneybox offer increased interest for the first year, so it’s all well and good putting £1 in but you do lose that increased income
