@harleyweiglestudio: The trick to throwing jars with inset lids is all in the initial stages. "Slice of bread thickness" was the saying my undergraduate professor engrained in our brain for throwing jars. The saying is specifically referencing the thickness in the rim of the vessel required to create the flange. Unlike throwing traditional vessels, the action of pulling our walls is not extended through to the rim but rather stopping 1/2 inch lower. This allows us to gain height, shape our vessel, AND deposit the necessary material for creating the flange later on. #harleyweiglestudio #jar #potterytutorials
