no where get me out of this hell hole. - here's some spots as someone who grew up here and is abt to move : dot’s back inn - nice family restaurant. stella's market near vcu and also near the library. broad street near vcu is crawling with awesome thrift stores and coffee shops there's also carytown it's a great city to live

wander around carytown!!!! so many cool little shops and places to eat! there’s also places like maymont and the lewis ginter with beautiful scenery although they’re a little far from vcu! worth the drive tho

Idk my first year I didn't love it, but there's a lot good restaurants and fun shops! But there's also a club fair right before classes start, so you can see if there's any you might like 🙂↕️🙂↕️

Rest In Pieces is a really cool oddities shop! Even if you aren’t there to buy anything it’s fun to look around it’s kinda like a cool museum! Also right down the road is Hollywood Cemetery, it has a really pretty view of the James River from one side where you can watch the sunset and it’s gorgeous! It’s more like a park than a cemetery, a bunch of people walk there!

the bus outside of GRC will take you to carytown for free! grab some friends and go spend the day there!

As a student who goes to vcu honestly just walk around campus and outside of campus too like I found so many gems and stores but do it during the day not during the night time for safety reasons too but the sunsets are so beautiful <3
