A NEW MENOPAUSE SYMPTOM‼️ Did you know menopause can affect taste and smell? It’s largely down to fluctuating hormones, which is why some women report similar experiences during pregnancy. Oestrogen is linked with saliva production, so when hormone levels drop, women can find their mouths become drier. And because saliva is important for stimulating taste buds, having a dry mouth can affect the taste of foods. Stress, age and certain medications can also cause a drier mouth. I’ve been working with Pink Lady® to try to delve deeper into this lesser-known phenomenon. We surveyed over 2000 women; the results were surprising: 🍎64% said they crave sweeter foods now 👅42% noticed a change in taste 👃46% said their sense of smell was different 🌱1 in 3 had changed their diets based on taste 🌵54% now crave juicier foods, which could be linked to ‘dry mouth’ 😲 Perhaps most surprising of all, 91% said they were unaware of this symptom before they experienced menopause themselves. 🫵🏾 What about you?
